ACLU of Oregon

As a freelancer, I served as creative director for the ACLU of Oregon’s 2023 Fall Magazine, leading the publication's complete visual direction. My goal was to elevate the magazine by intentionally hiring local Oregon designers, fostering a sense of community, hope, and shared authorship throughout the project. I also introduced interactive elements—such as a drawable donation envelope and a cut-out poster—to bring readers deeper into the experience. Collaborating closely with the ACLU’s marketing and copy teams, I designed the cover and contributed additional illustrations that helped unify the magazine’s tone and message.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was guiding and collaborating with regional creatives to shape a cohesive final product. I worked hands-on with each designer, providing art direction that balanced their individual styles with the publication’s overarching visual narrative. Supporting their interpretations, refining their approaches, and aligning the whole team around a shared creative vision was both a special challenge and a highlight of my role. This project strengthened my skills not only as a designer but as a leader committed to nurturing thoughtful, community-driven creative work.
